About AHS IV

The Adolescent Health Survey (AHS) is a questionnaire used to gather information about youth health in BC. The fourth provincial survey was conducted in early 2008 and contained questions about physical and emotional health, and about factors that can influence health during adolescence or in later life.
 
The AHS is conducted by the McCreary Centre Society in collaboration with the provincial government and public health system, and with the cooperation of BC’s school districts. To date, over 100,000 students have participated in the survey since 1992.

Fostering Potential: The lives of BC youth with government care experience

McCreary’s report on the lives of BC youth who have been involved in the government care system is now available to download by clicking here.

“Fostering Potential: The lives of BC youth with government care experience” profiles the experiences of these youth and details many protective factors that promote their health and well-being.

AHS IV Next Steps

Following the release of the 2008 Adolescent Health Survey results, we have been busy taking the results back to youth across the province in a variety of ways. Using the Next Steps model we are presenting the findings of the survey to youth in a meaningful way and engaging them in action to improve youth health in their community.

Fact Sheets and Powerpoint Presentations

A series of fact sheets on a variety of topics from the 2008 AHS IV will be added to the site by September 2010. Keep checking back for updates!

Fact Sheets offer research results on a variety of topics using the most recent Adolescent Health Survey data. Some of the Fact Sheets offer a summary of a more detailed report written on a particular topic area. Others, such as the Marijuana Fact Sheet, present detailed analysis only published in the Fact Sheet. McCreary grants permission to duplicate these fact sheets.
