Hiring: Youth Research Academy Research Assistants
McCreary is hiring Youth Research Assistants to join the eighth cohort of the Youth Research Academy (YRA) that started at the end of June 2023. The YRA is a group of BC youth aged 16 to 24 with experience in the government care system who are trained to carry out research projects of interest to youth in and from care and the agencies that serve them.
The positions are available from present day until March 31st, 2024, and are based at the McCreary office. Hours of work are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 PM - 4:30 PM, with occasional additional hours. Pay is $17.50 per hour. Interested youth must be eligible to work in Canada and have care experience. Training will be provided, and no previous research or work experience is needed.

The BC Health and Wellness Youth Advisory Council is recruiting new members
The BC Health and Wellness YAC is made up of up to 20 youth aged 14–19 from communities across British Columbia. The YAC provides youth perspectives on topics related to health and wellness to inform BC government decisions. The focus for the group includes vaping and tobacco use and related issues that matter to youth.
The YAC meets virtually about 10 times per year, with an in-person meeting once per year (travel costs covered). Members of the BC Health and Wellness YAC will receive $17.50 per hour to attend meetings and events. YAC members will receive support from McCreary facilitators, including one-to-one check-ins and regular email communication. YAC members will also receive any training needed to participate in YAC projects and activities.

Join the Youth Advisory and Action Council (YAC)
The YAC is a group of volunteers aged 15 to 24 who develop projects to improve youth health, including organizing ‘by youth for youth’ workshops and events. To learn more click here. The YAC accepts new members on an ongoing basis. Contact mccreary@mcs.bc.ca to find out how to join.
